The Movement of Sound

Today my sinuses were answering the call of the atmosphere. Not a pleasant feeling, as many of you can no doubt relate. But I found myself experiencing sound in ways I hadn't since my last serious encounter with sinus weather patterns as I was sitting at my easel, trying to get started on my work. First it was the overpowering thud of the furnace. Then my cat, BB, appeared with his purr that in today's climate grabbed my attention in a new way. It was as though I could feel the sound waves making their journey across the space between us. I looked at him and noticed that the very tips of his whiskers were vibrating with the sound of his purr. Their movement danced to the same vibration that his purr played. I was hearing, feeling and now watching sound in that moment.

Then BB turned down his purr a couple of notches and the whiskers stopped their buzz as the sound and sensation in my inner ears continued. A few gentle strokes on the top of his head from me and he was back purring at top levels again. Seeing sound. A cocktail for the senses. Beautifully, part of my day's painting plans included a rendition of the first Edison phonograph*. Synchronistic Sound.

Clearly this is the perfect day to start the blog I've been itching to start! And the clouds have started to break on today's sinus pressure storm. Cheers to blogging!

*stay tuned for a reveal of that finished painting in the future...
